An Enjoyable Evening at the Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society

By February 7, 2014 No Comments

In the midst of a tough winter and on the heels of December’s ice storm, our own Dr. Evan Mavromatis was invited to speak last night at the monthly meeting of the Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society in Toronto.  In an open forum question and answer session, he discussed how people and their birds can deal with an emergency situation, like the ice storm, so everyone stays safe.  He also talked about how birds can adapt to the cold and changes in their environment.  The BFBS members had great questions for Evan and they discussed topics such as feather picking, egg laying and breeding, nutrition, mites and parasites, and owning and re-homing birds.  He even answered a few questions about reptiles!  Evan would like to thank BFBS president Deirdre Graham and the rest of the club’s executive and club members for inviting him to their meeting and for their warm hospitality.
