Boarding

OUR BOARDING POLICIES AS OF OCTOBER 2024

Going away on vacation? Moving? Doing renovations? If your pet needs a temporary home away from home, our Toronto veterinary clinic offers boarding services that cater to the unique needs of birds, rabbits, ferrets, rodents and other exotic pets.

Veterinary oversight, exercise and personal attention by our caring, responsible staff ensures that your pets are happy and healthy during their stay with us.

We ask that our clients keep in mind that we are primarily a veterinary hospital and we provide boarding services as a courtesy to our clients. Our kennel staff are responsible for assisting our veterinarians and technicians, tending to our hospital patients, along with other tasks in addition to caring for our boarding patients.

Please take a moment to read our boarding policies carefully. These policies help ensure the safest possible environment for the pets in our care and help us to keep things running smoothly. We appreciate your cooperation in abiding by the following policies:

RESERVATIONS

Although we will always do our best to accommodate everyone’s boarding requests, we recommend booking your reservations at least 14 days in advance. For boarding requests during holidays or long weekends and/or if you have a special-needs pet, please book your reservation at least one – two months in advance. Please be advised that for special needs pets, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Please contact the clinic to let us know about your pet’s special needs.

You can call us, e-mail us, or submit a Boarding Request Form here on our website. If you choose to submit a boarding request via e-mail or our online form, your reservation is not confirmed until our receptionists contact you.

Once your boarding reservation is confirmed by our reception staff, you will be required to submit our Boarding Patient Information Form in order to finalize your reservation. Failure to submit this form can result in your reservation being canceled. If you have previously submitted this form on your pet’s behalf and no changes have been made to their diet or husbandry, you do not need to re-submit the form. Clients are required to submit one form per pet scheduled to board at our clinic.

CANCELLATIONS

A cancellation notification is recommended to be made at least 24-48 hours prior to your reservation date. We understand that unforeseen circumstances do come up from time to time; however, because our boarding spaces are limited, we do ask that you inform us immediately. We appreciate your cooperation.

Visitations will need to be arranged ahead of time with management so as to not interfere with hospital operations.

PERSONAL ITEMS

Being away from the family is not always easy on our little ones and having a touch of home with them can be comforting. However, there are special considerations to make when your pet is boarding. While your pets may have a special bed, blanket or toy that they would never chew at home, they may decide to chew it while in a kennel away from home. We ask that NO irreplaceable/meaningful/non-washable items be left with your pets while they stay with us. We also ask that clients limit their item bags to one per household as we have limited storage space.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS/REQUESTS

Our kennel staff will try their best to accommodate special requests for your pet. Please keep in mind that, in addition to their regular hospital duties, our kennel staff are caring for many boarders at a time. Special requests such as e-mail updates or photos of your pet during their stay may not be possible.

Grooming and examination appointments will be arranged based on availability at the time of booking, but may not be possible during your pet’s stay.
